He spent time under the watchful eye of iconographists learning this art for detail and meditation.
He has returned almost yearly to the mountain and has travelled extensively throughout this almost otherworldly realm.
After immigrating to Australia in 1974 he worked hard in various kitchens in Sydney Greek restaurants eventuating in becoming a qualified chef.
Aris continued in his spare time pursuing the art of iconography as a very enthusiastic hobbyist always seeking further knowledge which he found studying under Stathis Loupos following the tradition and style of Fotis Kontoglou.
Aris still continues this style within his work preferring the authentic byzantine colours and textures still traditional and true. His work can be found throughout many orthodox churches in Sydney and NSW.
Aris still classifies himself simply as a hobbyist. He has been featured in various greek newspaper articles and magazines.
After reaching retirement age he has pursued this hobby as a form of relaxation mainly.
Importantly Aris has never sold his work to any middle man entities. He only sells direct to who has ordered the icon whether it be for a home or a church.
His prices are very modest and his work is exceptional.
Thank you for reading this introduction to a remarkable authentic genuine individual.
